About
The State of the Nation Address (SONA) is the most critical event on the South African political calendar. Hosted by The Presidency, it sets the government's agenda for the year. It requires a digital presence that is authoritative, stable, and accessible to every citizen.
The primary challenge was content volume. Government addresses are dense. My strategy was to create a "Modular Information Architecture." Instead of a wall of text, we broke the speech down into thematic cards (e.g., Economy, Safety, Energy). This allowed users to scan the topics that mattered to them and dive deeper without being overwhelmed.
Visual Design Digital Dignity
The visual language needed to balance the gravitas of The Presidency with the accessibility of a modern news site. We utilized the South African national color palette (Gold, Green, Black) but applied it with modern UI principles—clean whitespace, high-contrast typography for readability, and clear touch targets for mobile users.
